Paper on active tracking in mobile networks accepted for publication at the prestigious Computer Networks journal!
The paper by Michal Ficek, Tomas Pop and Lukas Kencl titled Active tracking in mobile networks: An in-depth view has been accepted for publication at the prestigious Elsevier Computer Networks journal! Computer Networks has Impact Factor 1.231, among the highest in the field of computer networking. It is the first output of the long-term RDC research efforts materializing into such result. Congratulations, and we also sincerely thank Vodafone Czech Republic a.s., Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic, Microsoft Research and Charles University in Prague for the kind support of this work!
IBM PhD Fellowship Award to Jan Stanek!
Jan Stanek has been awarded the prestigious 2013-14 IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award, as a follow-up to his highly successful Great Minds internship at IBM-Research Zurich last year. We are very proud of this recognition of the work of Jan and of the quality of our laboratory. Congratulations and many thanks to IBM colleagues for their support!
Global success at the start of 2013
The start of the year has been very good for RDC, with three papers accepted for the main program at renowned global conferences: PAM in Hong Kong, IEEE Mobile Cloud in San Francisco and IEEE ICC in Budapest. Congratulations to Jan, Jiri, Eduardo, Michal and Lukas and many thanks to Tekelec and Microsoft for sponsoring some of these works!

The paper by Katerina Dufková, Miroslav Popovic, Ramin Khalili, Jean-Yves Le Boudec, Milan Bjelica and Lukáš Kencl, titled "Energy Consumption Comparison Between Macro-Micro and Public Femto Deployment in a Plausible LTE Network" receives BEST PAPER AWARD at the 2nd International Conference on Energy-efficient Computing and Networking IFIP e-Energy 2011! Congratulations especially to Katka for this great success at a prestigious international conference, which is in part a result of her succesful internship at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland.
3D Mobile Talking Head wins BEST PAPER AWARD at the SiMPE 2010 Workshop !!!
The paper by Jirí Danihelka, Roman Hák, Lukáš Kencl and Jirí Žára, titled "3D Talking-Head Interface to Voice-Interactive Services on Mobile Phones" receives BEST PAPER AWARD at the 5th Workshop on Speech in Mobile and Pervasive Environments SiMPE (in conjunction with the ACM MobileHCI 2010 conference) on September 7, 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal. Congratulations for a great success at a respected international workshop and a strong achievement for the 3D Mobile Internet team! Many thanks go to Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic for the continuous support of this project.
eScribe press conference
On Friday January 22nd, 2010 a press conference was held at RDC to close the first phase of the eScribe project. Representatives of the media, of organizations of the handicapped as well as of Vodafone Foundation were present. The conference was a resounding success, with a flawless demo of voice transmission and remote real-time transcription to text within a browser, using a variety of portable and mobile devices. Among others, these articles appeared in the media: CTK: Prepis reci pro neslyšící bude možný i na dálku and aktualne.cz: Neslyší, co se jim ríká. Ale technika jim pomuže. Many thanks to the project team comprising of Z. Bumbálek, J. Zelenka and T. Pop and also to Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic for the continuous support of the project.
Voice2Web wins BEST PAPER AWARD at IFIP/IEEE MMNS 2009 !!!
The paper by Jan Rudinský, Tomáš Mikula, Lukáš Kencl, Jakub Doležal and Xavier Garcia titled "Voice2Web: Architecture for Managing Voice-Application Access to Web Resources" wins BEST PAPER AWARD at the 12th IFIP/IEEE International Conference on Management of Multimedia and Mobile Networks and Services (IFIP/IEEE MMNS) on October 26-27, 2009 in Venice, Italy. This is a fabulous success at a respected international conference and represents a great achievement for the Voice2Web team. Congratulations! Many thanks go to IBM Czech Republic, R&D Voice Technologies and Systems and Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic for the continuous support of this project.
Paper on predicting mobility in cellular networks accepted for the MELT 2009 Workshop!
The paper by Katerina Dufková, Jean-Yves Le Boudec, Lukáš Kencl and Milan Bjelica titled Predicting User-Cell Association in Cellular Networks from Tracked Data is accepted to the The Second International Workshop on Mobile Entity Localization and Tracking in GPS-less Environments (MELT 2009) at the 11th ACM International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing (UBICOMP 2009) on September 30, 2009 in Orlando, FL, USA. It is an important achievement for several reasons: our repeated presence at MELT, our first collaboration with EPFL, Switzerland and University of Belgrade, Serbia, and our first successful investigation towards energy-efficient networks.
